House passes economic stimulus, prodded by Obama
In a swift victory for President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled House approved a historically huge $819 billion stimulus bill Wednesday night, filled with new spending and tax cuts at the core of the young adminstration's revival plan for the desperately ailing economy.
How did your congressman vote?
The vote was 244-188.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy friend says 9/11 was a lie
In an embarrassment to the French President, and with just two days to go before the seventh anniversary of the deadly terrorist strikes, Jean-Marie Bigard - a member of Mr Sarkozy's inner circle of showbiz friends - said the official version was a lie. We are now absolutely certain that these two planes - the one that supposedly fell into a forest (flight 93 in Pennsylvania) and onto the Pentagon don't exist... those planes are still flying. It's an enormous lie, he told Europe 1 radio. It's an American missile that hit the Pentagon, they provoked it themselves, they killed fellow Americans. Usually one learns of these things 30 years afterwards. We know it now, he went on. (9/11/2008)

As expected, the SEC, under Chairman Christopher Cox, said it would extend its outright ban on shorting of nearly 1,000 financial stocks beyond the scheduled expiration Thursday. (10/3/2008)

Swat Team conducts food raid in rural Ohio
On Monday, December 1, a SWAT team with semi-automatic rifles entered the private home of the Stowers family in LaGrange, Ohio, herded the family onto the couches in the living room, and kept guns trained on parents, children, infants and toddlers, from approximately 11 AM to 8 PM. The team was aggressive and belligerent. The children were quite traumatized. At some point, the “bad cop” SWAT team was relieved by another team, a “good cop” team that tried to befriend the family. Financial Crisis: Who is going to bail out the euro?
Europe must pull together if it is to avoid further financial disaster. My view is that Washington has done what is needed to prevent the collapse of the US economy. It has taken over the entire credit system, after all, surpassing Roosevelt's New Deal. The US has guaranteed the $3.5 trillion money market funds. It has nationalised the $5.3 trillion pillars of the mortgage market, Fannie and Freddie. The Fed is accepting any junk as collateral at its lending window. This week it went the whole hog after panic hit the $1.6 trillion market for commercial paper. It is now offering loans without any security at all. The US government has become a bank. Yes, this is US socialism. What is the alternative? (10/9/2008)

Averting Depression as Consumer in U.S. Fades: Stephen Roach
Debate rages over the endgame for the Great Recession. The broad consensus of policy makers, financial market participants, business leaders and academics concurs that the world is in the midst of its worst decline since the 1930s. In making that comparison, there is a presumption that another depression is a distinct possibility if immediate steps aren’t taken to contain the downward spiral.
This debate misses the point -- and dangerously so. While I have been as bearish as anyone over the past several years, I would still assign a very low probability to a 1930-style depression for the U.S. and the broader global economy. Monetary and fiscal authorities have made it quite clear that they are prepared to do everything in their power to avoid such an outcome. Ultimately, I suspect they will get their way.
Yet there is a serious and worrisome risk to this policy strategy. By fixating on the anti-depression drill, authorities are failing to address the root cause of the current crisis and recession -- the lethal unwinding of unsustainable global imbalances. (4/20/2009)

Israeli Sanhedrin Is Re-Established And Discusses Temple
Two remarkable developments took place recently that are extremely relevant to students of Bible prophecy. For the first time in 1,600 years, the Israeli Sanhedrin was re-established. It occurred in Tiberius, the site of the Sanhedrin's last meeting in AD 425. These religious authorities believe it was necessary to re-establish the Sanhedrin because only this properly ordained body of sages can authenticate a Messiah when he comes. There is a growing expectation of the long-awaited Messiah to appear among devout Jews. The rebirth of the Jewish state and recapture of Jerusalem has increasingly influenced this conviction. On Feb. 9, just a few weeks after the Sanhedrin's re-establishment, another enormously important development took place. The religious sages began to consider the rebuilding of the Temple and reinstitution of ancient animal sacrifices as prescribed in the Law of Moses. (8/1/2008)

The Wall Street Journal reports that families in the top two tax brackets would see the value of the tax break for their donations to charity limited. Households paying taxes at the 33% and 35% rates can currently claim deductions at those rates. Under the Obama proposal, they could deduct only 28% of the value of those payments, the report says. A pro-life group in Washington has launched a campaign to oppose what it calls president-elect Barack Obama's planned $1.5 billion bailout of the abortion industry.
Last week, the Obama-Biden Transition Project posted a report on its website that calls for dramatic policy reversals on abortion, including $1 billion in taxpayer money for international abortion groups like Planned Parenthood. The report, titled Advancing Reproductive Rights and Health in a New Administration, also calls for a 133-percent increase in funding for the Title X program, which funds Planned Parenthood clinics across the country.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, is hoping a Republican-led effort in the Senate will block Obama's plan to substantially increase taxpayer funding of Marjorie Dannenfelserthe abortion industry. (12/18/2008)

Planting Seeds of Disaster: ACORN, Barack Obama, and the Democratic party
‘You’ve got only a couple thousand bucks in the bank. Your job pays you dog-food wages. Your credit history has been bent, stapled, and mutilated. You declared bankruptcy in 1989. Don’t despair: You can still buy a house.” So began an April 1995 article in the Chicago Sun-Times that went on to direct prospective home-buyers fitting this profile to a group of far-left “community organizers” called ACORN, for assistance. In retrospect, of course, encouraging customers like this to buy homes seems little short of madness. At the time, however, that 1995 Chicago newspaper article represented something of a triumph for Barack Obama. That same year, as a director at Chicago’s Woods Fund, Obama was successfully pushing for a major expansion of assistance to ACORN, and sending still more money ACORN’s way from his post as board chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. Through both funding and personal-leadership training, Obama supported ACORN. And ACORN, far more than we’ve recognized up to now, had a major role in precipitating the subprime crisis. (10/9/2008)

A coal fired power-plant in Oregon has started a pilot project to curb pollution by using algae to harvest greenhouse gases and make fuel and other useful products. How does it work? FRID - Hackers clone passports in drive-by RFID heist [Video]
A British hacker has shown how easy it is to clone US passport cards that use RFID by conducting a drive-by test on the streets of San Francisco.
Chris Paget, director of research and development at Seattle-based IOActive, used a US$250 Motorola RFID reader and an antenna mounted in a car’s side window and drove for 20 minutes around San Francisco, with a colleague videoing the demonstration.
During the demonstration he picked up the details of two US passport cards, which are fitted with RFID chips and can be used instead of traditional passports for travel to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
“I personally believe that RFID is very unsuitable for tagging people,” he said.
“I don’t believe we should have any kind of identity document with RFID tags in them. My ultimate goal here would be, my dream for this research, would be to see the entire Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative be scrapped.”

Violent clashes in Russia as angry protesters call for Putin to resign over economy - Political parties vie for power

Iran and its Hamas proxy in Gaza have been busy this Christmas week showing Christendom just what they think of it
On Tuesday, Hamas legislators marked the Christmas season by passing a Shari'a criminal code for the Palestinian Authority. Among other things, it legalizes crucifixion.
Hamas's endorsement of nailing enemies of Islam to crosses came at the same time it renewed its jihad. Here, too, Hamas wanted to make sure that Christians didn't feel neglected as its fighters launched missiles at Jewish day care centers and schools. So on Wednesday, Hamas lobbed a mortar shell at the Erez crossing point into Israel just as a group of Gazan Christians were standing on line waiting to travel to Bethlehem for Christmas. Jihad Recruiting Effort May Explain Missing Somalis in Minneapolis Area
Dozens of young Somali men in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area have disappeared in recent months, causing community members and U.S. intelligence officials to fear that they are joining jihadist groups in Somalia.

The missing young men have been the focus of some attention since late October, when Shirwa Ahmed, a naturalized U.S. citizen, died in a suicide bombing in northern Somalia. Ahmed was a 1999 graduate of Minneapolis's Roosevelt High School. (12/4/2008)

67,000 China factories closed in H1 2008 as global economic collapse takes hold
An export slowdown amidst the global financial crisis has contributed to the shutdown of at least 67,000 factories across China in the first half of 2008. The social problems arising from the slowdown have stirred anxiety in China's government, which has unveiled a $586 billion stimulus package to help create jobs, mostly by building transportation infrastructure.
Due to the mass layoffs, many migrant workers are heading home early for the Chinese New Year, in late January. Many of the 7,000 workers who lost their jobs when a Hong Kong-owned toy factory called Smart Union shut down last month have returned home. Many such factories were run by Taiwanese or Hong Kong managers who fled the mainland.
- Looking back in history, the sudden closure of the Smart Union toy factory leading to 7000 job losses, together with the plunge in global stock markets in the Oct 2008 period, would probably mark the point at which the global economic collapse started, kicking off the Second Great Depression. The following excerpt is from pages 61-62 of the 2006 book:
It's time for a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us. We propose universal civilian service for every young American. Under this plan, All Americans between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five will be asked to serve their country by going through three months of basic training, civil defense preparation and community service. ...
Here's how it would work. Young people will know that between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five, the nation will enlist them for three months of civilian service. They'll be asked to report for three months of basic civil defense training in their state or community, where they will learn what to do in the event of biochemical, nuclear or conventional attack; how to assist others in an evacuation; how to respond when a levee breaks or we're hit by a natural disaster. These young people will be available to address their communities' most pressing needs. (11/8/2008)

That could force the agency to make good on its promise to insure most customers' checking and savings deposits up to $100,000 and some retirement accounts up to $250,000, putting pressure on its insurance fund. $25, 573.48 - what Barack Obama's budget will cost each taxpayer
So how much will President Barack Obama's budget cost us? The projected 2010 budget of $3.552 trillion can be found on page 114 of the New Era of Responsibility budget here.
The US Census bureau estimates that the current US population is 304,059,724. Dividing the $3.552 trillion by that gives us close to the $11,833 that Drudge came up with. ABC's Jake Tapper reports that there wil be $989 billion in new taxes over the next decade.
I'm an American taxpayer and the starkest figure is what this could cost me. The latest figure I could find for the number of US taxpayers is 138,893,908 returns in 2007 here. By my reckoning, that's $25, 573.48 each. (2/26/2009)

Seven trillion dollars of wealth has been vaporized in US Stocks in the last seven days alone, with five of it since the passage of that ill-designed and foolhardy bailout bill. The selloff this afternoon is the real deal. It was not caused by the stock market getting mad, it was caused by the short-term credit market along with the Treasury market suddenly dislocating at a few minutes before the bond pit closed at 2:00 PM. Worse is also the fact that institutional lending has essentially disappeared - both between banks and now it is choking off commercial short-term credit across the board. That would have immediately solved the credit freeze problem. So why wasn't this proposed? This is the reason: (10/25/2008)

“Obama’s czars are a slick way of governing without having to answer to Congress. The rapid and easy accumulation of power by White House czars threatens the constitutional system of checks and balances.
Oversight of federal agencies is the responsibility of officials approved by the Senate, not appointees of the White House who operate with complete autonomy. Hypocrisy: U.S. House Kings and Queens Order Up Three Elite Luxury Private Jets
Last year, lawmakers excoriated the CEOs of the Big Three automakers for traveling to Washington, D.C., by private jet to attend a hearing about a possible bailout of their companies.
But apparently Congress is not philosophically averse to private air travel: At the end of July, the House approved nearly $200 million for the Air Force to buy three elite Gulfstream jets for ferrying top government officials and Members of Congress.

Ayers, Dohrn: 'White supremacy' responsible for America's troubles
Unrepentant terrorist William Ayers and his wife, onetime federal fugitive Bernardine Dohrn, are releasing a new book that blames whites for the problems in the U.S. since its independence from Great Britain more than two centuries ago. As WND reported this week, a former FBI informant who penetrated the group claims he participated in a discussion in which members of the group Ayers and Dohrn co-founded, the Weather Underground, discussed a future communist takeover of the United States in which 25 million diehard capitalists would need to be killed to prevent counterrevolution. Republican John McCain's presidential campaign has made Ayers an issue, charging Democrat Sen. Barack Obama has had a working relationship with Ayers, including service together on two nonprofit boards. Critics also maintain Obama's political career was launched at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn, also a former Weather Underground leader. (10/25/2008)

Gerald Celente of Trends Research: There is no economic recovery! It's a coverup followed by revolution [Video]
What 80 percent of economists call Recovery is a Cover up. Trillions in losses papered over with trillions of phantom dollars printed out of thin air and backed by nothing produce nothing except the mirage of recovery. The dollar's dive and gold's historic high is no mirage. Gold doesn't lie.
In the Autumn Trends Journal® we dispel the recovery as fantasy and show how and why America and much of the world will plunge into the Greatest Depression. The global equity market surge and bankers' bonuses do absolutely nothing for the man on the street. Foreclosures are at an all time high, businesses are going bankrupt, jobs continue to disappear.
While Wall Street cheers, Main Street seethes. The 2nd American Revolution has already begun, and it's much more than a right wing, militia driven movement. Who's behind it, will it be velvet or violent, waged with guns or won by minds?
Across America and around the world, everyone wants to know what's going to happen and nobody knows better than Gerald Celente. Google it up. Celente is today's # 1 trend expert, sought by the major media world wide.

The Bilderberg Plan for 2009: Remaking the Global Political Economy
Before the meeting began, Bilderberg investigative journalist Daniel Estulin reported on the main item of the agenda, which was leaked to him by his sources inside. Though such reports cannot be verified, his sources, along with those of veteran Bilderberg tracker, Jim Tucker, have proven to be shockingly accurate in the past. Apparently, the main topic of discussion at this year's meeting was to address the economic crisis, in terms of undertaking, “Either a prolonged, agonizing depression that dooms the world to decades of stagnation, decline and poverty ... or an intense-but-shorter depression that paves the way for a new sustainable economic world order, with less sovereignty but more efficiency.” Other items on the agenda included a plan to “continue to deceive millions of savers and investors who believe the hype about the supposed up-turn in the economy. They are about to be set up for massive losses and searing financial pain in the months ahead,” and “There will be a final push for the enactment of Lisbon Treaty, pending on Irish voting YES on the treaty in Sept or October,”[1] which would give the European Union massive powers over its member nations, essentially making it a supranational regional government, with each country relegated to more of a provincial status.
Shortly after the meetings began, Bilderberg tracker Jim Tucker reported that his inside sources revealed that the group has on its agenda, “the plan for a global department of health, a global treasury and a shortened depression rather than a longer economic downturn.” Tucker reported that Swedish Foreign Minister and former Prime Minister, Carl Bildt, “Made a speech advocating turning the World Health Organization into a world department of health, advocating turning the IMF into a world department of treasury, both of course under the auspices of the United Nations.” Further, Tucker reported that, “Treasury Secretary Geithner and Carl Bildt touted a shorter recession not a 10-year recession ... partly because a 10 year recession would damage Bilderberg industrialists themselves, as much as they want to have a global department of labor and a global department of treasury, they still like making money and such a long recession would cost them big bucks industrially because nobody is buying their toys.....the tilt is towards keeping it short.”[ (5/30/2009)

Citigroup's stock plunged below $5-a 13-year low-and the banking giant's troubles may be just beginning.
Most institutional investors and pension funds are barred from owning stocks below $5. So if Citigroup's stock remains below that level, it could trigger a wave of selling that would send the share price even lower.
That's the danger of crossing that $5 threshold, says Owen Malcolm, senior vice president of Sanders Financial Management in Atlanta. They're (Citigroup) already in trouble. It could get worse. (11/20/2008)

Divided EU battles to keep banks afloat
The financial storm that crossed the Atlantic into Europe is exposing limits of economic coordination within the 27-nation European Union that belie the bloc's history. the weekend failure of the region's four economic heavyweights - France, Germany, Italy and Britain - to follow the U.S. in crafting a unified financial bailout is raising alarm among officials and analysts, who worry that the European Union is also buffeted by Washington-style partisanship. Greenpeace says tar sands are the new toxic investment
Shell and BP have been warned by Greenpeace and other investors that their involvement in unconventional energy production such as Canada's oil sands could turn out to be the industry's equivalent of the sub-prime lending that poisoned the banking sector and triggered the current financial crisis. The global warming agenda is being used to control the energy sector. What would we do without these environmental saviors? (9/20/2008)

Return of 'hate crimes' plan looms in Congress
A federal hate crimes plan to criminalize speech or thoughts critical of homosexuality – dropped from Congress' agenda earlier because of a veto threat from President Bush – may be resurrected before the election, according to an opponent of such advocacy laws. Pro-homosexual advocates long have sought such a law but opponents fear it would be used to crack down on those who maintain a biblical perspective that condemns homosexuality as sin. (9/11/2008)

Regardless of how much credit Paulson and Bernanke waste on bailouts, this economy simply is not going to recover with the unemployment picture looking as bleak as it does.Day in and day out someone is announcing job cuts. It's depressing. And unlike 2001-2003, the bulk of those financial and auto sector job cuts are never coming back.I expect the reported unemployment numbers to rise to 7.5% to 8% in 2009 and keep rising into 2010. Joan Veon: How the financial crisis was a set up
In 1913, at 11:45 p.m., on the eve of Christmas, a group of powerful men came together to form a private corporation, designed to control the monetary system of our country. They moved with a calculated craftiness and deceit to pass legislation that would enslave every American as a debtor to their corporation. In short, we have been set up! Laws were designed and passed to specifically get us into this position! Unless you know the chicanery of how the Federal Reserve Act was passed in 1913, unless you understand the central banking system that runs almost all the countries of the world and their history of manipulation, deceit, deception, and distortion, you will not be able to hear, see, and understand what is happening under your nose. What's at stake is the future of everyone... a bailout plan that has no limits! All of this has been quietly put into play over the decades beginning with Reagan and continuing through Bush senior, Clinton, and finally to be enacted under Bush Jr. If you liked Patriot Acts, One and Two, or HR 1955 & S1959 (Thought-control legislation) then you're going to love this one because it's another VOTE ONLY DO NOT READ, in the interests of National Security of course, and the panicked need to appear to get a solution quickly! World stability hangs by a thread as economies continue to unravel
Whether it is the Indian rupee, the Shanghai bourse, or Kremlin debt, the stars of the credit boom have fallen to earth. Investors are retreating into 3-month US Treasury bills – the ultimate safe-haven. The yield has fallen to 0.02pc, less than zero after costs. You pay Washington to guard your money.
The working assumption of the Great Boom is – or was – that we live in a benign era where most societies are converging towards some form of market liberalism; where trade and capital flows are unrestricted; where governments have enough legitimacy to keep order by light touch; where a major war is unthinkable.
This illusion is now being tested. (12/3/2008)

I survived the Georgian war. Here's what I saw.
In a speech before the United Nations last month, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili implored world leaders to set up an international investigation to find out the truth about the war in South Ossetia. I couldn't agree more. But I think the results of an honest investigation would reveal a very different truth than what President Saakashvili claims. I know this because I was in Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia, on Aug. 7 when Georgian troops marched into the city and killed my friends and neighbors. I also have good reason not to trust what Saakashvili says. For three days before the attack I had been getting calls from many Georgian friends warning me to get out. They said Saakashvili was planning an attack. Most of the Georgians living in South Ossetia left because they knew what was coming. (10/7/2008)

Statement of Congressman Ron Paul
Madame Speaker, only in Washington could a bill demonstrably worse than its predecessor be brought back for another vote and actually expect to gain votes.
